Voter Registration Deadline for the November 7, 2017 General Election

 

 

 

Date:  June 22, 2017

 

The voter registration deadline for the November 7, 2017 General Election is October 10, 2017.  Not only is this the deadline for new registrations, it is also the deadline for name and/or address changes. 

 

The Putnam County Board of Elections is open Monday through Friday 8:30 A.M. until 4:30 P.M. through October 6, 2017.  The office will also be open 8:30 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. on October 10, 2017.

 

You are qualified to register to vote in Ohio if you meet all the following requirements:

  1. You are a citizen of the United States.
  2. You will be at least 18 years old on or before the day of the general election.
  3. You will be a resident of Ohio for at least 30 days immediately before the election in which you want to vote.
  4. You are not incarcerated (in jail or prison) for a felony conviction under the laws of Ohio, another state or the United States.
  5. You have not been declared incompetent for voting purposes by a probate court.
  6. You have not been permanently denied the right to vote for violations of the election laws.

 

You may complete a voter registration form at any county board of elections; www.MyOhioVote.com; the Ohio Secretary of State’s office; BMV or Deputy Registrars; Department of Job and Family Services; the Department of Mental Health; the Department of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities; the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) office; the Rehabilitation Services Commission; any state-assisted college or university that provides assistance to disabled students; any county treasurer’s office; any public high school or vocational school; or any public library.  However, if you are updating your current Ohio voter registration and returning your completed change of name and/or address form by U.S. Mail, you must send it to your county board of elections or the Secretary of State’s Office.

 

 

 

2017 Petition Filing Deadline for November 7, 2017 General Election

The Putnam County Board of Elections would like to remind everyone of petition filing deadline for 2017 General Election. 

Nominating petitions of candidates in nonpartisan races (Trustees, School Boards, Village Council and Educational Service Center Board) must be filed by 4:00 p.m. on August 9, 2017 for the November 7, 2017 General Election.  This is also the deadline to file issues for the General Election.

Write-in candidates for the November 7, 2017 General Election must file declarations of intent by 4:00 p.m. by August 28, 2017.

Petitions are available at the Putnam County Board of Elections, 575 Ottawa-Glandorf Road, Suite 2, Ohio, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  For more information, please contact the Putnam County Board of Elections or the Ohio Secretary of State.

When You Vote, Take I.D.

When you go to vote on Election Day, make sure you bring your identification.  Acceptable identification includes:

  • a current and valid photo identification (i.e. Ohio driver license, state ID card, government ID). Photo identification must include your name and address (does not need to be current address for driver license or state id card); or
  • a military identification that shows your name, but not necessarily your address; or
  • a copy of a current utility bill (including cell phone bill), bank statement, paycheck, government check, or other government document that shows your name and current address (including from a public college or university).

Please note that Ohio law provides you cannot use as proof of identification a notice that the board of elections mailed to you. Absentee Voting Available for the November 7, 2017 General Election

Absentee ballots will be available for Putnam County electors (non-UOCAVA) starting October 11, 2017.  An absentee ballot may be obtained by mail by sending a completed absentee application to the Putnam County Board of Elections.  The absentee applications by mail must be received at the board office no later than noon on November 4, 2017.  An absentee ballot may also be obtained in person at the Putnam County Board of Elections,  Tuesday, October 11, 2017 through Friday, October 13, 2017 (8:00 A.M. till 5:00 P.M.), Monday, October 16, 2017 through Friday, October 20, 2017 (8:00 A.M. till 5:00 P.M.), Monday, October 23, 2017 through October 27, 2017 (8:00 A.M. till 5:00 P.M.), Monday, October 30, 2017 through Friday, November 3, 2017, (8:00 A.M. till 7:00 P.M.), Saturday, November 4, 2017, (8:00 A.M. till 4:00 P.M.) Putnam County Board of Elections’ Regular Monthly Meetings

The Putnam County Board of Elections will hold its monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 4:00 PM; however, when there is an election in Putnam County, the monthly meeting will instead be held on Election Day.  The meetings are held in the conference room of the Board of Elections office, which is located in the Glandorf Complex, 575 Ottawa-Glandorf Road, Suite 2, Ottawa.
